God’s Will

God’s Will

The last several days I’ve been entrenched with the thought of “what is God’s will?” I’ve meditated on this thought for several days and have come to believe that “Gods will” or His greatest desire is to see people saved. Jesus said, (Matt.18:14) “Even so it is not the will of your Father who is heaven that any of these little one’s should perish.”  At the core of God’s heart, His deepest desire is to see men saved! He refused to live without His precious creation. Therefore, John the beloved disciple penned the eternal words of our Savior (Jn.3:16), “for God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life!”  It’s just that simple. However, we know that it would cost Him everything! During Jesus earthly ministry, He echoed His Fathers sentiments when He said of Himself (Luke 19:10) I’ve come to seek and to save all who are lost!  After Jesus had prayerfully chosen His team of 12, He sent them out into every city and every village that He Himself was about to go and He instructed them to preach the Gospel and heal the sick (Luke 9:1-6). It’s interesting to me that in the very next chapter He chose “seventy others” to do the same exact thing the original twelve had just done (Luke 10:1-2)!

The apostle Peter, who not only was one of Jesus close disciples and friends but was the leader or certainly one of the main leaders in the New Testament church wrote down for all of us what he believed Jesus’ will or deepest desire was. He said in his second letter (2Pet.3:9) “The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance”  The apostle Paul who happened to be extremely intelligent, who was also one of the greatest, most passionate and determined leaders in the entire New Testament, writes to his spiritual son Timothy telling him that God desires all men to be saved (1Tim.2:4)! Paul himself says (1Corn.9:22), “I have become all things to all men that by all means save some!”

If we understand that God’s will is for all mankind to come to salvation, then we must by all means do whatever we can to tell everyone we can that Jesus SAVES!

Now, knowing that the scriptures plainly state that God does not work alone but He chooses to use willing vessels, I believe that all of us must, as Paul told young Timothy, “do the work of an evangelist!”  As he wrote to the church in Rome, Paul states clearly, (Rom.10:14-5) How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? 15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace,

Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

I conclude by saying that we must all do everything we can to embrace the will of our heavenly Father and we must “seek and save all who are lost!”

“For whosoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved!” (Rom.10:13)

Will you please help me find “the whosoever’s?”

All for souls,

Your friend,

Bernie Moore
